Timmins Lunar Fishing Calendar

Many anglers use a lunar fishing calendar as a useful tool to catch their trophy.  Typically, fishing can often be excellent within three days before and after a full moon.  There are other key issues to consider in addition to the calendar:

  • Be aware to the minute of when the sun and moon, rise and set.  This will provide four windows of opportunity.  Fish will be most active within a 90 minute period surrounding these times.  Large walleye (pickerel), pike and trout can often be caught during the periods indicated in the moon phase fishing calendar.
  • The weather brings another important factor.  Stable weather occuring at peak fishing times can yield fantastic results.  An incoming weather front can significantly reduce the adantages offered by the lunar fishing calendar.

As always do your own research.  The moon phase calendar is probably the best place to start for a great weekend of enjoyment in the Timmins outdoors.

Remember to consult the latest Ontario Fishing regulations for the Timmins region.  Before heading out onto lakes and rivers consider the risks and refer to these important Ontario travel and boating safety resources.   A guide to eating Ontario sport fish is a valuable resource before planning your gourmet meals.

The Timmins area can offer adventure and excitement.  Always take the necessary precautions and play safe!
