disabled2As more people turn to the internet for information or to conduct electronic transactions, accessibility issues are being brought to the forefront.  Many people live with varying degrees of disability in one form or another.  The Timmins Voice recognizes the importance of promoting awareness of the challenges faced by the disabled in their everday lives.

There are many tools available online to assist people with disabilities.  Microsoft Corporation provides excellent resources to assist the disabled with their online activities.  Tools are available for people with vision, dexterity, hearing, learning, language and communication difficulties or impairments.  There are also resources for aging computer users.

Service Canada also provides online resources for people with disabilitiesAccess to services and information is available for persons with disabilities, family members, caregivers and all Canadians.

- the Timmins Therapeutic Riding Association, a registered charitable organization, committed to improving the quality of life for disabled young people and adults in Timmins

- Free Income Tax ServiceTax forms filled for people with physical challenges who are on a low income.  To be eligible an individual's income must not exceed specified limits (check with the Timmins Volunteer Centre for more information).  The service is provided by volunteers.
